Rex's Story

REX'S STORY:

Rex is a set of headphones. He is currently plugged into a small boom box. This boom box is covered in flower stickers and plays boy band music through all hours of the day. Rex rests on Sabra's head while she decorates the sidewalk with colorful chalk. Sabra hears he mother calling her in for lunch and drops Rex to the ground. Just then Rex spots across the way a large "old school" boom box sitting next to a piece of cardboard. It starts pumping very large beats, shaking the ground from its music. Rex is determined to get to this new world full of fun and upbeat music, he sets out to cross the street. Rex takes a few steps and it pulled back for his chord will not reach and he is still attached to Sambra's boom box. He begins to tug on his own chord attempting to release himself from this hell he has been living in. He struggles and fights his chord, it finally breaks loose and he starts across the street. He is across the street as a bicylce comes behind Rex and pinches his chord between the sidewalk and the front wheel. His adaptor at the end of his chord breaks and he is left with bare wires. He looks back at the journey he has made and looks at his chord. He has come all this way and now cannot plug himself into his new boom box. Just then a smile creeps across Rex's face and he begins to dance. He realizes that this boom box's owner plays the music outloud and he will not need to be plugged in to enjoy the music.

Please give me as much feedback as you'd like. I could use all the help I could get at this point. I'm not sure this is a strong enough story. Let me know what you think.

I got some suggestions:
1. Show that Rex is unhappy and frustated when he is playing boy band music.
2. When Sabra "turn's him off" he should instantly hear music coming out of the boom box, playing something off the radio. This song should be at the very end and have a transition into a comercial where people talk. He should look really intrigued as he hears the music and then look bummed as the commercial comes on. The radio commercials should play the entire time he is struggling to get there. It would also be cool if the radio commercials commented about somethings he was stuggling with, like a bicycle advertisement right as the bike comes the picture.
3. Once he gets to it and gets sad he can't be attached, he should just play around the radio dial and find more and more styles of music then he should look satisfied.

Hopefully this is good advice. Maybe someone can say "Butt Pirate" in there once or twice for good measure.

The end is still a little weird...if the boom box is already playing music loudly, wouldn't he already realize he doesn't need to be plugged in to it? I'm not sure at this moment how to help you end it but I will give more feedback soon, once I have an idea.

im mostly afraid for all the animating it will take to finish this piece. if you can video tape an actress and composite Rex on her i think that would save you a lot of time. other than that i think your shots and cuts will really give the energy your piece needs to be successful.
